LES CISTES La ciste du chevalier errant

TREASURE TRAILSThe wandering knight's trail

Hunting for treasure

The tresure trove of the wandering knight

Have you heard of "cistes" or treasure troves? Whether or not, these tourist treasure hunts are becoming more and more well-known. The phenomenon is growing thanks to the internet. You just have to print out an enigma and set off as we did into the mysterious forest of Huelgoat...

" Once upon a time, there was a young virgin who was walking alongside the canal, she went over the bridge named Gwen, crossed the camp and made a start upon the path which led to the mill. " The title of the enigma in hand, all you need to do is follow step by step the indications of this trail step by step putting yourself in the plce of this virgin from the time of King Arthur.

Direction(Management) thus the bridge(deck) Gwen to make a ballad in forest of Huelgoat... " Making Road, her(it) collected a mushroom and enjoyed it.

So we set off towards Gwen bridge to have a walk in the forest of Huelgoat... "Making her way along this road, she picked a mushroom and ate it. Suddenly she was overcome by evil and started trembling within minutes, so much so that she almost fell into an abyss. "

After a stopover at the mill of the Chaos, our quest thus leads us to the mushroom, then to the trembling rock which is an integral part of the myths and legends surrounding Huelgoat.

"Fortunately a fairy passed by, and just like that with a wave of her wand, she put her back on her feet and advised her to go and rest in Artus's lodging house. "

After a break well deserved, it was time to join the lodging house of Artus if we wanted to be able to complete our mission and find the treasure... Because, of course, we didn't tell you but at the end of this expedition, there is a box left by the trail maker, the creator of the enigma.

Ok, it's true, the treasure is really only symbolic: a pencil, a figurine at the most.

But by finding it, we obtain the right to leave an object, as proof of our passage on the site.

" But our young lady feared the devil so much that she preferred to quickly return to her lodging house. When you find the place to go, take that route dear to Yves. "

By intuition, it is to the Virgin's Kitchen (Ménage de la Vierge) that we finally head for, near a small bridge. We cross it as indicated...

" Then walk past the sign post, go along past rocks, put on your boots! A green tuft,  approximately 1,3 m from the ground yu will find the King's treasure.

We getting warm! Regrettably near the rocks, a multitude of green tufts, and finally we have no choice but to search until we're exhausted and have to abandon the search.

Too bad, it is not today that the treasure will be ours but at least the pleasure of walking alone or with your family with the aim of finding a treasure remains a great way to spend an excellent day of discovery... Finally, a nice ice cream in Huelgoat village centre quickly made us forget that we could have been rich...

In the departments of Finistère, Côtes of Armor and Morbihan, cistes.net lists approximately 1500 treasure trails or "cistes". All you have to do to register is leave your e-mail. From then on, you have access to all the missions and the quests proposed department by department. Click on the mission you're interested in and the enigma will be sent to you by mail, then just print it and ste off...
