When you have a family,
you want somethng quick, delicious and not to expensive to
eat. From fabulous crêperies
to the finest French cuisine with local produce, the choice
is overwhelming...
Here's a quick selection
of some of the best places to eat in Huelgoat...
TREGONT Traditional French
Cuisine

If you've already done the crêperies and
pizzerias in Huelgoat, and despite the fact you think
they're great you'd fancy a change, you'll be pleased to
find this excellent restaurant at 30 rue des Cieux.
Susan is there to welcome you with her
cooking experience and quality of her traditional meals.
Following the huge success last year she is once again
offering her barbecue midday specials in the garden at the
rear of the restaurant as well as many other fixed menu
offers.
Susan and her partner Peter invite you
to come and try their magnificent set menus or choose à la
carte from their specialities of game and other delights.
Everything is prepared on site from locally sourced produce,
some of it organic depending on availability.
The name of the restaurant, Tregont,
is Breton for "thirty" and they're ready to welcome you at
number thirty so what are you waiting for?!
LA MIROIR AUX FÉES
Crêperie

If you've been
walking by the lake you'll have noticed the Crêperie the
Miroir Aux Fées, a mysterious name very fitting for a
crêperie in Huelgoat! You might even have enjoyed a meal
outside during one of the infrequent sunny spells. But if
you've been inside you'll have noticed the artwork of
Loriane Le Grand, an interior decorative painter. She has
also worked on the Hôtel Noz Vad in Carhaix and Oceanopolis
in Brest! Now isn't that a reason to get down to the village
centre and have a meal out? Check out her site at

LES STÈLES
Snacks & coffee

You may have notcied how
the number of café terraces has blossomed this summer,
despite July bringing hardly the type of weather for you
to sit outside and have a drink. Well, I finally got myself
down to the new café librairie "Les stèles" in the
magnificent building next to the Crêperie des Myrtilles in
the village square in Huelgoat. Françoise and
Florence Yvon, a couple of sister-in-laws from Morlaix
and Berrien respectively, offer several types of tea and
other drinks and a few tasty snacks too in a great setting
of Les Stèles - a name in honour of Victor Ségalen,
the famous poet who died mysteriously in Huelgoat - This is
a café and book shop but also has a gallery of exhibitions
upstairs with an exhibition about Ségalen. Don't forget to
ask about their future soirées of art, literature and
music. Another step towards . "Huelgoat - Cité d'Arts"!

L'AUTRE RIVE
Light meals and coffee

If you hadn't already noticed, one of the
liveliest places around Huelgoat is the
Café-Librairie l'Autre
Rive in Berrien. Not content with putting on great art
exhibitions, they regularly organize the
Ateliers du Jeudi
workshops. However,
these take place on Wednesdays in January, but that's
besides the point... Meet at 19h00
to share in a "journey of
writing"
There will also be a day
of writing on the theme of "la passion" : Saturday 13th
January 2007, from 11am to 5pm.
